Fine Pruning
Thoughtful canopy care for structure, longevity, and beauty.
Fine pruning is not about cutting back for the sake of cutting back. It is precise, plant-specific work that improves structure, airflow, light, and long-term performance. We approach pruning through plant biology and best practices, with the goal of building landscapes that look intentional and stay healthy year after year.
The Approach
Fine pruning is cumulative. Small, consistent adjustments prevent heavy cutbacks later.
Selective thinning improves airflow and light, supporting healthier structure over time.
Timing matters. We prune with plant cycles in mind to reduce stress and protect flowering.
Root health and canopy health are connected, which is why pruning pairs well with soil support when needed.
Our Services
Restorative Pruning
For overgrown, shrub heavy, or reactive landscapes that need a reset. We focus on structure, airflow, light, and long term plant health to bring the garden back into balance. This work creates a clean baseline so future pruning can be lighter, more consistent, and more predictable.
Yearly Pruning Program
Once a property is in balance, we create a customized annual pruning calendar and maintain it through scheduled visits across the year. This program is designed for clients who want consistent results and a predictable budget. Annual pricing is billed monthly to spread payments evenly while keeping the landscape on a steady, healthy rhythm.
How It Works
-
We start with a site walk to understand the plants, structure, and priorities. We look at canopy density, airflow, light, plant health, and how the landscape is meant to function and feel.
-
Most properties fall into one of two paths.
Restorative Pruning is best when a landscape needs a reset due to overgrowth, density, or years of reactive cutting.
Yearly Pruning Program is best when a property is already in a healthy baseline and you want consistent results and predictable budgeting. -
We provide a clear scope and plan, then schedule work around seasonal windows and plant cycles. Timing may shift slightly due to weather and bloom timing, but the goals stay consistent.
-
After each visit, we track progress and adjust priorities as needed. If plant stress or performance suggests deeper soil limitations, we may recommend pairing pruning with a Soil Health or Consulting plan for stronger long term results.
